How our PE Exam online courses work
An overview of PE Review.net
What we provide
The PE Preparation site is for Civil Engineers, who are taking the PE Exam. This is a review program that addresses all five disciplines (Construction, Transportation, Geotechnics, Structures, and Water & Environmental) for the morning (breadth) exam and Transportation, Geotechnics, and Water Engineering & Environmental Engineering for the afternoon (depth) exam. We provide:
- Video Streamed demonstrations of worked PE type problems from a College Professor
- ten 2-hour practice exams with detailed solutions in all five disciplines
- over 375 problems
- comprehensive coverage of the morning (breadth) exam
- focused coverage of the afternoon (depth) exam emphasizing transportation, geotech, and water & enviro problems
How do you learn ?
Step one: download a PDF file for the topics you want to review. The file will contain about eight problems with detailed partial solutions.
Step two: try to solve the problems, on your own.
Step three: take a peek at the partial solution and fill in the blanks.
Step four: open the Flash video and watch and listen to the Instructor walk you through the solution.
Step five: go back and watch and listen to the Flash video as many times as you like.
Why Video Stream through PE Review.net?
If you're preparing for the PE Exam, you have a Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University. This means that you already have the knowledge needed to pass the exam. If you prepare in the traditional way, you'll have to sit through more tedious evening classes, or wade through your old College notes. This is the “shot-gun” approach which can be a daunting task! Worse still, your notes are usually out of date. Did you cover the 2004 AASHTO "Green Book?" And remember, the PE Exam structure is always changing e.g. Construction appeared as a new discipline in April 2008.
What we offer
It's important, to know what you already know so that you focus on your weaknesses. If you prepare properly, you will probably earn a passing score by the time you take the 3rd practice exam. By the time you take the PE Exam proper, you'll have taken the PE Exam at least three times and will be odds-on a passing candidate!

The not so good alternatives
Traditional Self Study
The traditional Self Study approach requires that you study everything. This is an ambitious and time-consuming alternative. It is not necessary to study everything but only part of the subject. How do you know which part to study? The most common complaint is that there is so much to study. How much time are you willing to spend bouncing from one topic to another? From one question to another? What is the value of your time? And when were you able to 'fast forward' or 're-wind' your professor?
Scheduled Classes
Scheduled classes meet regularly and follow a planned program to cover several topics in a certain period. There is little or no flexibility. You have to sit through material you already know, and you have to speed through topics you wish you could have given more time. When the coverage is hurried, many topics are skipped and you are required to spend a lot of time understanding your notes and studying more.
